A garden diary

Aldo Leopold celebrates amateur researchers by giving an example of Margaret Morse Nice, who studied song sparrows in her back yard and became an authority on bird behavior. I don't expect to become an authority on anything, but I like the idea of "citizen scientists." Thomas Jefferson famously said, "But though an old man, I am but a young gardener." Except that I am a woman, I find that Jefferson's quotation suits my perspective on gardening. I hope to record here my successes and failures in the garden through many happy growing seasons.
